Primark shoppers hit back at 'nostalgic' item that 'gives them PTSD'

Primark shoppers have hit back at the return of a simple shoe that many remember from childhood - but these are not fond memories.

The humble ballet shoe had many of us in a chokehold as teens as we tried to climb up the social ladder at school. With shoes ranging in different colours, they were simple to chuck on with jeans, trousers or dresses.

But despite being an absolute staple in the mid-2000's, many of us don't have fond memories and a TikTok has since gone viral after a shopper spotted them in Primark.

A video has gathered thousands of views from 'Emilysnotinparis' as she filmed the rack of flat shoes. She added the caption: "The ballet flat revival is here gals and has landed in Primark. I don't think my ankles can take them again."

The post quickly gathered hundreds of comments and over 1400 likes, as people rushed to express their angst over the return of the ballet pump.

One wrote: "I have PTSD from wearing ballet flats in the rain and having wet squelching feet for the rest of the day."

A second added: "I had these as school shoes. they were so bad. They leaked in water through the soles."

"Why are these back?" A third cried.

A fourth commented: "The amount of times I sprained my ankles, they have never been the same. I can’t."

And to prove how much we've grown up since the ballets pumps were last in fashion, one added: "I loved them back in the day, but I'm a little bit more seasoned now, and definitely need more support."
