Primark's one-word response after shoppers spot major blunder on £11 sweatshirt

High street fashion retailer Primark have issued a statement after shoppers spotted an embarrassing error on one of it's new-in pieces. Customers took to social media to point out a geographical blunder on one of it's new sweatshirts after they shared a video of it to Instagram.

The affordable fashion brand shared a clip featuring three outfits shoppers could buy on a budget of £150 - but it didn't take long for eagle-eyed shoppers to recognise the mistake, Birmingham Live reports.

The second outfit featured a pair of blue straight leg jeans, cream chunky boots and a green-grey, oversized sweatshirt with the words 'Colorado' and 'discover nature' written across the top of a scenic picture.

Several followers recognised the national park in the photograph as the Grand Canyon in America - which is located 600 miles away from Colorado, in Arizona. One confused shopper commented: "Are you guys under the impression that the Grand Canyon is in Colorado? Is that what that sweatshirt says!!????"

A second person replied: "Did no one honestly even CHECK ON THAT?!" and another wrote: "You guys, the Grand Canyon isn't even close to Colorado."

Responding to a comment from one Primark fan asking where they could buy the sweatshirt, one person wrote: "You don't want it. People will think you're ignorant." Another person said the slip-up was like saying Stonehenge was in Scotland.

Primark has since responded to the error, firstly, with a one-word quote, admitting its mistake. "Whoops," a sppokesperson said.

They added: "Thank goodness we are expanding across the US so we can avoid mistakes like this one in the future."

"On the bright side (of the Canyon), we're always looking to come up with designs that make people look great and get them talking - so glad to see it is doing just that!"

Primark didn't say if it was planning to pull the sweatshirt from its stores, though it has since unpinned the post from the top of its Instagram page. The Colorado sweatshirt isn't currently listed on Primark website.
