Primark's £12 sandals look very similar to £1,000 Chanel designer version

Budget retailer Primark is selling a pair of sandals which look very similar to ones sold by a designer brand but for around £1,128 less.

Primark, which is hugely popular in Liverpool, has become known for its designer dupes in recent years, often selling alternative versions to high-end products for much less. This time around, the retailer is selling a pair of knitted sandals which are very similar to Chanel’s Ivory Knitwear sandals, which are priced at £1,140 online.

Primark took to its Instagram feed this week to share a photo of its new sandals, which feature a similar design, including similar colour palate, knitted straps, a slingback style and gold buckles. However, the Chanel sandals feature a different shaped buckle - the brand’s logo.

While Primark doesn’t offer an online shop, the retailer does have a website where shoppers can see its latest products and check if they’re in stock before heading into stores to purchase them. According to Primark’s Instagram feed, the £12 sandals are new in stores now. You can find the Chanel version here.

Sharing the new shoes, Primark said: “Black or cream, which will you choose? Buckle Sandals £12/€15/$16 #Primark #InStoreNow”. The post racked up more than 7,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

Beneath the photo, Primark shoppers praise the sandals with many claiming they’re “so comfy” and that they’d already picked them up in both colours. One person said: “I have these and they're SO comfy!”

A second wrote: “I’ve got the pale ones and I’ve worn them every day since I bought them so comfy!” and a third added: “Obsessed”. Another said: “Bought both! So comfy too”.

Shoppers could save themselves around £1,128 by opting for the Primark dupe. Find your nearest Primark store here.
