Primark is making a huge change to multiple stores - see if your local is affected

Primark is to expand one of its major London stores and move two other shops to new locations.

The high street fashion chain has announced plans to double the size of its store in the Westfield City Shopping Centre in Stratford, London.

The store will expand from two floors to four - increasing its size from 45,100sq ft to 81,000sq ft - in a move that will create 250 new jobs.

Primark has also confirmed its shops in High Wycombe and Bradford will also be relocating to different locations.

Its store in the Kirkgate Centre, Bradford will be moving to The Broadway Shopping Centre.

Primark hasn’t revealed where its High Wycombe shop, which is currently located at The Chilterns, will move to.

It comes as part of a £140million pledge to boost its presence on the UK high street, including refurbishing and upgrading its stores.

Primark has already committed to opening at least four new stores by the end of 2024.

Its new shop in Craigavon opened in December, with sites in Salisbury, Teesside Park and Bury St Edmunds to follow.

Primark is taking over the former Debenhams store in Bury St Edmunds.

Primark Retail Director UK, Kari Rodgers said: “After setting out an ambitious investment plan a few months ago, it’s exciting that we can now reveal another one of the stores set to benefit.

“We’re looking forward to extending our offering at Westfield and giving shoppers in Stratford even more of the great style and incredible value they love the most.”

It comes after Primark launched its click and collect trial, allowing shoppers to order clothes online for pick up in stores.

At the moment, it will only include kids toys, clothing and nursery ranges across the North West of England, Yorkshire and North Wales.

Shoppers will also need to make a minimum purchase of £15 to use click and collect but there is no extra charge for the service.

The launch comes as the retailer suffered a huge blow following hundreds of store closures during the coronavirus pandemic.

With no online service to fall back on, the budget chain lost more than £1billion in sales.

But sadly, customers still can’t order products for home delivery online. You can see the 25 Primark stores offering click and collect here.
