Primark has revealed it will be opening up more stores across the UK over the next two years, creating 850 jobs. The fashion chain is going to be opening up new shops in Salisbury, Teesside Park in Stockton on Tees, Bury St Edmunds and Craigavon in Northern Ireland.
As well as the new stores, the clothing giant has revealed it is also planning to swap existing shops in Bradford and High Wycombe to bigger premises. A total of 850 people will be hired to staff the new outlets, the Mirror reports.
Primark now has 190 shops across the UK, employing 30,000 people. The new stores announced are expected to open within the next two years.
In November, Primark launched a click and collect service in 25 stores across England and Wales, including Blackpool, Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Wrexham - and it was so popular with shoppers, the website crashed just after it went live. Shoppers have to make a minimum purchase of £15 to use the click and collect service, but there is no extra cost for using it.
Around 2,000 products are available for click and collect but it currently only includes kids toys, clothing and nursery ranges, with other ranges like menswear, homewear and womenswear still only available in store currently.
Primark chief executive Paul Marchant said they are "committed" to investing more in stores across the UK. He said: "The UK is our biggest market and as we continue to grow and expand our business internationally, we remain as committed as ever to investing on our stores to offer more customers our great value clothing, beauty homewares and more."
