This is the shocking moment a Ukrainian priest was attacked by a wrench-wielding Russian screaming “get that f***** Ukrainian flag off your car!”
Sergey Kosyak, 46, was left shell-shocked after he was attacked in public, simply for showing his support for Ukraine.
He was driving in Saxony, east Germany on Saturday, with the Ukraine flag waving on his car when the incident took place.
The priest caught the entire attack on his dashcam, and posted the video on YouTube.
The footage shows the Russian spotting the Ukraine flag and yelling “take it off your f****** car!” in Russian before becoming physical.
The attack ended quickly after a group of passers-by and the Russian man's own passenger rushed to intervene.
He was pushed back into the front seat of his vehicle before driving away.
Father Sergey has lived in Saxony since 2014, and leads the Bautzen Ukrainian Assistance Centre, which helps resettle refugees from his native Donetsk.
The priest said: ”It turns out that for Kremlin followers thirsty for Ukrainian blood, our flag acts like sunlight on vampires.”
He added he was now concerned about what refugees might face when they arrive in the country.
Speaking to TAG24, Kosyak said: “I brought many people to Germany so that they would be safe here.
"Now something like this is happening here too. We don't feel protected.”
The priest wasn’t injured in the attack but immediately called the police so the man would be “punished and others do not continue like this”.
Local officers did not name the attacker but put out a call for witnesses to come forward. They added they were trying to figure out the man's motives.
They are investigating the man for attempted dangerous bodily harm and threats.
