PricewaterhouseCoopers jobs you can apply for in Cardiff

There is currently a boom in the professional and financial services sector, with PricewaterhouseCoopers one of the companies seeing its revenues and profits grow during the Covid-19 pandemic. The giant international firm, which is based in London, offers risk assurance, tax advice, legal services, management consultancy, accounting and financial advice to a wide range of different businesses.

PwC's audit, deals and transformation services have been especially in demand as more firms looked at restructuring, with many moving to working from home on a long-term basis. It currently has 22,000 employees in the UK, including staff based in Cardiff.

Its UK workforce recently learned that staff would be getting a 9% pay rise. The firm said it was taking the measure to help offset the pressures resulting from the current cost-of-living crisis. It comes as the latest inflation figures, measured using the Consumer Price Index, sees the inflation rate also now at the 9% mark.

The BBC has reported that PwC is investing more than £120 million in funding the pay increases. A further £138 million - up £10 million on the previous year - has also been allocated to cover the cost of staff bonuses.

Kevin Ellis, PwC's chairman, said the move was to ensure its pay rates were as "competitive as possible". He said: "We know pay will be an increasingly important consideration given rising living costs - we want to stay competitive and continue attracting the best talent and skills from across the UK."

Salaries for many of PwC's entry-level programmes are also increasing, according to reports. These increases include audit roles where pay rates are said to be rising by up to 10%, while consulting graduates can now expect an 8% increase in their pay.

According to the Glassdoor jobs website, the average wage for a senior associate with PwC in Cardiff is £41,724. An associate could expect to earn a salary of £25,374, and a manager just over £50,000. A data analyst with PwC earns, on average, £27, 542, while a tax associate anywhere between £23,000 and £28,000 a year.

PwC is currently looking to recruit for 11 jobs based in the Welsh capital. The roles range from qualified and part-qualified accountants to business analysts and auditors. Here are some of the PwC job opportunities that are on offer in Cardiff.

Senior technical project manager

You would be working to help clients with regulation, risk and compliance as part of PwC's 'Operate' service. The job advert states: "Harnessing the power of tech and data, we work with some of the most recognisable organisations worldwide, wherever they need us to be. We deliver sustained outcomes through our managed solutions, as well as transforming and running complex operational processes that often create challenges or hinder client progress."

Part-qualified accountant - financial solutions

The successful applicant would be part of a team of accounting professionals working "at all levels" to provide operational delivery expertise for large projects such as company finance transformation programmes. Key responsibilities include reviewing management accounting, financial control and "managing and coaching" trainee accountants and finance assistants.

Qualified accountant - financial solutions

The role would also be in the PwC's Finance Solutions team. It includes monthly management accounting – actuals, budgets and rolling forecasts pay, balance sheet reviews, managing and coaching trainee accountants and "collaborating with the client delivery teams in tasks and activities that span across operational project tracking and financial reporting".

Technical business analyst

The vacancy is within PwC's Operate Digital Operate team, which creates and runs technology that the business and its clients rely on. The job advert states: "We also transform the way our clients use technology in delivering assets to our clients across a wide range of business processes." It adds: "We're looking for candidates who have business analysis experience that can effectively and efficiently manage the definition, analysis, delivery and maintenance of business, project and system requirements."

Scrum master

The role is part of the company's Operate Digital team with the focus on using tech and data to help with the smooth running of "some of the most recognisable organisations worldwide". It is a job title that describes a professional who leads a team in terms of project management.

Necessary skills and experience required include experience as a scrum master with "knowledge of project management techniques and tools". The ideal candidate would also be proficient in project management software and have experience in "software development" or business transformation projects "delivering change through technology".

Ethical hacking senior associate

PwC is looking for someone to work in cyber security, which is recognised as being one of the "most urgent issues facing businesses and governments today". The job advert states: "We help organisations from all sectors operate securely in the digital world and play an integral role in helping our clients ensure they’re protected." It adds: "PwC UK provides real world attack simulation services to clients across the globe from our base in the UK and as a part of this team a significant part of the role will involve delivering both covert red teams and collaborative purple teams."
