Previewing the Celtics’ 1/9 tilt with the Bulls at TD Garden

While the lowly 19-21 Chicago Bulls are below .500 and barely clinging to the range of teams in the NBA’s play-in tournament at the Eastern Conference’s ninth slot with a 2-game lead over the 11th-place Washington Wizards, they also happen to be one of just a handful of teams in the league that have blown out the mighty 28-12 Boston Celtics currently in possession of the league’s best record in either conference.

And the Bulls have done it twice, at that — what is it about this ball club that makes them such a tough matchup for Boston? Should we expect a similar level of difficulty for the two team’s third meeting of the season, or were the prior two meetings just Boston working through early-season hiccups?

Could Chicago’s banged-up roster be a factor in the upcoming tilt? And if things keep going sideways for the Bulls, might there be some players on Chicago’s roster the Celtics might be able to pry loose?

On a recent episode of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast, the show’s hosts linked up with USA TODAY’s Bulls Wire editor Michael Mulford to talk over the impending matchup between Boston and Chicago.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what you ought to be expecting for the third attempt of the Celtics to get past an ostensibly lesser foe.
