Prestwick Main Street has been closed to traffic this lunchtime following a serious incident.
A vehicle is lodged in the entrance to the Savers health and beauty store in the middle of the town.
Pictures show a car having mounted the pavement before coming to rest at the doorway of the shop.
Emergency services have raced to the scene with at least three ambulances in attendance.
A large police presence is also at the scene to divert traffic away from the Main Street.
An eyewitness told Ayrshire Live: "It looks like the car has mounted the pavement and managed to stop just in time before ploughing inside the Savers shop itself.
"The car has come to a stop right in the doorway and looks like it has broken the front window.
"It must have been a pretty terrifying moment and the scene is pretty chaotic at the moment with police trying to divert the traffic away from the town."
Police have confirmed the Main Street will be shut until further notice.
