Sainsbury’s in Blackley has unveiled a huge new ‘restaurant hub’ in the Heaton Park superstore. The supermarket now features a whole section dedicated to food, with a host of well-known names running kitchens.
US fried chicken brand Slim Chickens, which has a branch in the Arndale Centre, will have a new concession in the store, alongside a Caffe Carluccios, and British chip shop chain Harry Ramsden’s.
There’s also a Gourmet Burger Kitchen and an Ed’s Easy Diner. The restaurant group behind the development, Boparan, already has similar food court concessions in Sainsbury’s branches across the UK, having launched the concept in 2021 in Selly Oak in Birmingham.

All the restaurants provide either dine-in or takeaway options. The hubs also offer customers free wi-fi.
“Our ambition is for Sainsbury’s stores to inspire and delight our customers with great value and distinctive, tasty food, so we’re excited to have opened The Restaurant Hub inside our Heaton Park supermarket this week,” said Elizabeth Newman, Sainsbury's Director of Commercial Partnerships.
“We’ve worked hard to create a destination we think our customers will love that gives them the chance to enjoy a meal in-store, or at home, from a great selection of restaurant brands.”
The Boparan group already runs the Giraffe, Ed’s Easy Diner, Cinnamon Collection, Slim Chicken, Carluccios, GBK and FishWorks brands across the UK.
