President Donald Trump has unveiled a new plan to replace the EB5 visa program with a 'gold card' initiative, which he believes will be highly sought after. The proposal involves selling a 'gold card' to wealthy foreigners for a $5 million fee, granting them the right to live, work, and potentially obtain citizenship in the United States.
During a recent Cabinet meeting, Trump expressed his desire to retain talented individuals who are educated in the US but face challenges due to their visa status. By offering the 'gold card' option, companies could purchase these cards to recruit skilled individuals while simultaneously contributing to paying off the national debt.
Trump emphasized the economic benefits of this program, suggesting that it would lead to job creation. He stated, 'We have to be able to get people in the country, and we want people that are productive people. The people who can afford to pay $5 million for the 'gold card' are likely to be job creators.'
The President indicated that these 'gold cards' would be available for purchase in approximately two weeks, expressing optimism about the potential success of the program. He remarked, 'Maybe it will sell like crazy. I happen to think it's going to sell like crazy. It's a market.'
