Representational Image

New Delhi: Even as the Opposition is yet to choose its comman candidate for Presidential polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is holding its parliamentary board meeting here on Tuesday where it is likely to finalise its face for the Presidential election to be held on July 18, sources said.

While BJP may decide its candidate in today's meeting, the question remains when will Opposition choose its comman candidate for the Presidential poll.

As the information received by Dynamite News, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has proposed the name of former Union Minster Yashwant Sinha who could be a consensus candidate of the opposition.

Taking to the Twitter, Yashwant Sinha also confirmed the offer of Mamta Banerjee. He tweeted that for a larger national cause, I should work for opposition unity, away from the party. After this, there are speculations that he may be the presidential candidate from the opposition.

Opposition Parties have been struggling to finalise a comman candidate as three probables have so far declined to contest — Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, National Conference (NC) supermo Farooq Abdullah and former West Bengal governor Gopalkrishna Gandhi, who have all extended support but not agreed to the candidature.

Opposition parties are likely to meet today at Pawar's residence in Delhi to possibly decide on a nominee.
