President-Elect Trump To Visit Paris For Notre Dame Reopening

U.S. President Trump visits the Double Eagle Energy Oil Rig in Midland, Texas

President-elect Donald Trump is set to make his first overseas trip since being reelected in November to attend the reopening of Notre Dame cathedral in Paris on Saturday. Sources familiar with the plans revealed that Trump's team has been in discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron's office regarding the visit.

Throughout Trump's first administration, he and Macron had a close working relationship, often described as a 'bromance,' despite occasional public displays of hostility. Macron was the first foreign leader to congratulate Trump on his reelection, making him just the second US president to win a nonconsecutive term.

Recent reports suggest that Macron is planning to invite Trump and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, who has been selected for a role in the president-elect's administration, to Paris for a summit on artificial intelligence in early February.

Trump's visit to Paris follows Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's recent trip to Florida, where he dined with Trump at Mar-a-Lago. Trudeau became the first G7 leader to meet with Trump in person since Election Day.
