Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar recently praised US President-elect Donald Trump for his significant role in the ceasefire-hostage negotiations between Israel and Hamas. Sa’ar emphasized that Trump's involvement was instrumental in reaching a positive outcome.
In an exclusive interview, Sa’ar highlighted the strong support and assistance provided by the United States, particularly President Trump, during the negotiations. He noted that while Israel was not coerced into any actions, they collaborated effectively to achieve a crucial goal.
Despite not completely defeating Hamas, Sa’ar acknowledged that the group still holds power in Gaza. He clarified that the ceasefire agreement is temporary, with plans to initiate negotiations for the second phase after approximately two weeks.
Addressing the challenges faced during the negotiations, Sa’ar admitted that certain concessions were made, such as the release of imprisoned terrorists, including murderers. He described these decisions as difficult and risky but emphasized the importance of honoring commitments to fellow citizens who had been held captive for an extended period.
