President-elect Trump made an appearance on Saturday at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida alongside Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The event featured a screening of a documentary that shed light on the challenges faced by conservative lawyers within the legal system. Trump, accompanied by Meloni, entered the grand ballroom around 7 p.m. and rejoined the crowd after a two-hour dinner.
During the gathering, Trump expressed his excitement, referring to Meloni as a 'fantastic woman' who has made a significant impact in Europe and beyond. Notable figures present at the documentary screening included Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican Rep. Mike Waltz, and Scott Bessent, Trump's pick for Treasury Secretary.
Meloni's visit to Mar-a-Lago follows a series of meetings between world leaders and the president-elect in Florida. Argentina's President Javier Milei was the first to meet with Trump post his Election Day victory, followed by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.
Meanwhile, President Biden is scheduled to travel to Rome later this week for a meeting with Meloni and Pope Francis. The White House announced that the meeting with Meloni will emphasize the strong U.S.-Italy relationship, with Biden expressing gratitude to the prime minister for her leadership during the G7 summit.
