President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden are extending a warm welcome to President-elect Donald Trump and Melania Trump at the White House, following a service at St. John’s Episcopal Church. This customary visit typically occurs after the morning service, where the president-elect, vice president-elect, and their spouses pay a visit to the White House. During this visit, the incoming and outgoing presidents usually engage in a brief private meeting.
This year, it is anticipated that Biden and Trump, accompanied by their spouses, will share a moment over tea at the White House. Following this, the outgoing president traditionally escorts the president-elect to the US Capitol for the swearing-in ceremony.

It is worth noting that in 2021, Trump broke from tradition and did not invite Biden to the White House, a departure from the longstanding practice that dates back to 1837 with Martin Van Buren and Andrew Jackson.
