President Joe Biden is scheduled to deliver a farewell address to the nation from the Oval Office on Wednesday, just five days before President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration. The address, set for 8 p.m. Eastern time, will be Biden's final significant opportunity to address the American people and the world before he leaves office at noon on January 20.

Earlier in the week, Biden spoke at the State Department, focusing on his foreign policy legacy. Reflecting on his decision to step aside during the presidential race, Biden expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Trump and believed Vice President-elect Kamala Harris could have also secured a victory.

During his speech on Friday, Biden emphasized the importance of party unity and avoiding a divided party that could lead to an election loss. He stated that he believed in the potential for Harris to win and saw unifying the party as a priority.

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre shared that Biden's upcoming speech on Monday will reflect on his extensive 50-plus years as a public official. She mentioned that Biden will also share his thoughts on the future of the country and its role as a global leader in addressing important global issues.

Biden's farewell address is anticipated to provide insight into his vision for the country's future and how it can navigate critical global events. The address will serve as a platform for Biden to share his reflections on his long career in public service and his aspirations for the nation moving forward.
