This marked the third time President Biden had seen Dr. Cannard, with each visit being for his annual physical. The findings from each examination have been made public.
During a White House press briefing, Jean-Pierre was asked whether the neurologist Cannard's meeting with the president's physician, O'Connor, on January 17 was related to the president's care. Initially, Jean-Pierre had responded that it was not related.
However, further scrutiny revealed that Cannard had met with O'Connor in January specifically to examine President Biden as part of his annual medical check-up. This clarification came after questions were raised about the purpose of Cannard's visit during Monday's press briefing.
This incident is not the first time that Jean-Pierre's responses regarding the president's health have required clarification, especially following Biden's challenging debate performance last month.
It was disclosed last week that Biden had been examined by his physician in the days following the presidential debate, despite previous statements indicating that he had not undergone any medical exams since his February physical and had not been checked by a doctor for his cold around the time of the debate.
