The Defense Department has announced additional firefighting capabilities ordered by President Biden to assist with combating the Palisades Fire in California. Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh provided details on the measures being taken:
The California National Guard will be deploying two modular air firefighting system units to enhance firefighting efforts. In addition, the Nevada National Guard is also contributing two modular air firefighting system units to support the operation. Furthermore, ten Navy helicopters equipped with water delivery buckets have been dispatched to provide immediate aerial suppression assistance.
Singh mentioned that the Defense Department has four extra modular air firefighting system units available, which could be utilized if necessary to bolster the firefighting response.
