President Biden Offers Assistance As Hurricane Beryl Approaches Jamaica

U.S. President Biden visits Israel amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas

President Joe Biden has announced that the United States is prepared to offer aid to areas affected by Hurricane Beryl as the powerful Category 5 storm heads towards Jamaica.

During a discussion on extreme weather, President Biden expressed solidarity with the people and communities impacted by Beryl, stating that they are in the thoughts and prayers of the nation.

Hurricane Beryl made landfall on Monday as a Category 4 storm on Carriacou island, a part of Grenada, causing significant destruction. Grenada's Prime Minister, Dickon Mitchell, described the island as being 'flattened' within just thirty minutes of the storm's arrival. Reports of damage have also emerged from Petite Martinique and Barbados.

The National Hurricane Center has issued warnings that the massive storm is projected to reach southern Jamaica by Wednesday, posing a serious threat to the region.

President Biden's assurance of assistance underscores the commitment of the United States to support those affected by natural disasters and provide relief in times of crisis. The government stands ready to offer aid and resources to assist in the recovery efforts and help affected communities rebuild in the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
