President Joe Biden is set to partake in a series of traditional Inauguration Day activities as he prepares to leave the White House for the final time. This includes hosting the Trumps for tea, riding with them in the motorcade to the Capitol, and leaving a letter for his successor.
According to White House officials involved in the planning, there was never any question about whether the outgoing president would engage in these ceremonial rituals. This decision stands in contrast to four years ago when Donald Trump did not extend the same courtesies to then-incoming President Biden.
One official emphasized the significance of honoring these traditions, stating that it was crucial to follow the established protocol. Despite reported feelings of frustration over being pushed out of the 2024 race and facing blame for Trump's re-election, Biden is committed to upholding these customs.
