President Biden Drops Out, Democrats Face Race Controversy

U.S. President Biden delivers remarks on healthcare coverage and the economy, in Washington

Former President Donald Trump recently made headlines by asserting that the Democratic Party had 'stolen the race' from President Joe Biden after Biden's decision to drop out of the presidential race on Monday. Trump took to Truth Social to express his views, criticizing the Democrats for their handling of the situation.

According to Trump, the Democrats initially chose Biden as their candidate, but after a poor debate performance and a series of mistakes, they allegedly pressured him to step aside in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris. Trump accused the Democrats of undermining the democratic process by replacing Biden, who had won the primaries, with another candidate.

Biden officially withdrew from the race on Sunday, citing sustained pressure from within the Democratic Party, which raised concerns about his age and ability to serve effectively as president. Following his exit, Biden endorsed Vice President Harris, who has since garnered significant support from top Democrats and prominent figures in Hollywood.

House Speaker Pelosi reportedly advised Biden to step down.

The Democratic Party now faces a deadline of August 7 to nominate a replacement for Biden. The key figure behind Biden's decision to withdraw was reportedly House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who privately advised him to step down. Pelosi's allies, including Congressman Adam Schiff, publicly echoed the sentiment, while leaks to the press further eroded Biden's position.

Notably, neither Pelosi nor former President Barack Obama, who expressed doubts about Biden's chances of winning, have endorsed Harris. Obama suggested the need for a formal process to determine the party's nominee.
