President Joe Biden is set to deliver a farewell address to the nation on Wednesday night from the Oval Office, marking what could be his final opportunity to shape public perception of his term before leaving the White House. The address, scheduled for 8 p.m. ET, is part of a series of speeches focusing on domestic policy and foreign relations aimed at solidifying his legacy.

Earlier in the day, President Biden announced a long-awaited ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, potentially bringing an end to over a year of conflict in the Middle East.

Despite his initial intention to seek reelection, President Biden faced challenges during his campaign, ultimately withdrawing from the race following a debate with Republican Donald Trump. He then endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who later lost to Trump in the election.

In an open letter released on Wednesday morning, President Biden reflected on his presidency, stating, 'I ran for president because I believed that the soul of America was at stake.' He highlighted achievements such as leading the country through the COVID-19 pandemic, promoting domestic manufacturing, and working to lower prescription drug costs.

The farewell address not only marks the conclusion of President Biden's term but also signifies the end of his five-decade-long political career. From being elected as the youngest senator in 1972 to serving as Vice President under Barack Obama, Biden has had a long and storied political journey.

Reflecting on his humble beginnings, President Biden expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as President, stating, 'Nowhere else on Earth could a kid with a stutter from modest beginnings in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Claymont, Delaware, one day sit behind the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office as President of the United States.'

As he prepares to leave office, President Biden acknowledged the challenges that remain, emphasizing the importance of unity and the ongoing work needed to uphold the nation's democratic values.
