President Biden delivered remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast on Capitol Hill, emphasizing the importance of unity, faith, and prayer in these challenging times. The President expressed gratitude for the opportunity to attend such a meaningful event and acknowledged the presence of various political and religious figures.

He began by expressing his appreciation to Frank, who led this year's Prayer Breakfast, as well as Congressman Tracy Mann of Kansas. President Biden recognized Speaker Johnson, Majority Leader Jeffries, Senator Gillibrand, and Senator Blackburn, among other members of Congress who were in attendance. He also acknowledged the Chair of the National Prayer Breakfast and Foundation, Senator Heidi Heitkamp.

The President then expressed his deep admiration for the renowned Italian singer, Andrea Bocelli, who had performed for his family during Christmas at the White House. President Biden shared that Bocelli's music had brought solace to his family during a difficult time after the loss of his son, Beau. He extended his gratitude to Bocelli for being a meaningful presence in his life.

President Biden reflected on the significance of prayer in both personal and collective experiences. He acknowledged the prayers received during difficult moments and highlighted the value of practicing different faiths freely in the United States. He conveyed his condolences to the families of the three American servicemen killed in Jordan and mentioned his upcoming visit to Dover Air Force Base for their dignified transfer.

Turning his attention to the ongoing conflicts in Israel and Gaza, the President expressed concern for the lives lost and the suffering experienced by innocent civilians. He emphasized the need to work towards peace, security, and dignity for both Israelis and Palestinians. President Biden also mentioned the importance of maintaining peace and helping Ukraine confronted with Russian aggression.

In addition to international issues, the President underscored the need to stand against hate, including anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and all forms of discrimination. He emphasized the unity of Americans and the shared responsibility of upholding the nation's core principles of equality and fairness.

President Biden concluded his remarks by invoking Abraham Lincoln's words, urging Americans to view each other as fellow citizens rather than enemies. He encouraged the nation to embrace its diversity, demonstrate honesty, decency, and respect, and work together towards a brighter future.

The National Prayer Breakfast has historically served as a platform for presidents to address the nation with messages of faith, unity, and hope. President Biden's speech struck a tone of inclusivity and emphasized the importance of coming together as a nation to overcome challenges and uphold the values that define America.
