During the event, Biden announced the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, marking a significant milestone in ensuring gender equality protections in the Constitution. He emphasized that after consulting with constitutional scholars, the ERA has now become the 28th amendment to the Constitution.

Before concluding his remarks, Biden was honored with the United States Conference of Mayors’ Award for Distinguished Public Service by the mayor of Columbus, Ohio, Andrew Ginther.

Throughout his presidency, Biden has focused on a range of policy initiatives and actions, including efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and social justice issues. As he prepares to transition out of office, Biden expressed confidence in the resilience and dedication of the American people to continue the work of building a better future for all.
