Premium Bond millionaires revealed as 2 Brits scoop June jackpot - check if it's you

Premium Bond winners for June have been announced - and two people in the UK are now £1million better off.

The first big winner is from Essex, with winning Premium Bond number 281YT705546.

This jackpot winner currently has £10,001 in Premium Bonds and bought the winning bond in September 2016.

The second June Premium Bond millionaire is from Kirklees - making them the second-ever jackpot winner to come from the Yorkshire region.

The winner had £50,000 in Premium Bonds, the maximum available, and bought winning bond 464SG223887 in July 2021.

Premium Bonds is a savings deal issued by National Savings & Investments (NS&I).

The savings deal works a bit like a lottery.

Instead of earning interest on the bonds you buy, you are entered into a monthly prize draw where you can win between £25 and £1million tax free.

This means your chance of winning is completely down to chance - and you may not win anything at all.

Whenever you want to you can get all your money back from NS&I, though it may take a few days.

The minimum amount you can have invested in Premium Bonds is £25, and the maximum is £50,000.

How to check if you're a winner

Customers can use the nsandi.com prize checker tool and prize checker app to see if they have won.

If you have an Amazon Alexa, you can also ask it to tell you the latest winning numbers.

To see if you've won, you will need to enter your Premium Bonds holders’ number.

Those who have chosen to have prizes paid to their bank account, or have their prizes reinvested, will be informed whether they have won by email or text message.

The vast majority of the prizes released each month are for £25.

Customers can choose to have their prizes paid straight into their bank account, or to have them automatically reinvested into new Premium Bonds.

More than nine in ten prizes are now paid straight into winner’s bank accounts or automatically reinvested into more Premium Bonds.

We've spoken to the so-called "Agent Million" whose job is to tell the £1milllion Premium Bond winners that they've won the top prize.

"Agent Million" revealed how winners find out the good news, how they react - and how much they get paid.

Premium Bond wins are decided by a supercomputer called Ernie.

The first Ernie was designed by the team behind the WW2 Colossus codebreaking machine at Bletchley Park.

Since the first draw in June 1957, Ernie has drawn 562million prizes with a total value of £22.9billion.Premium Bonds are Britain's favourite savings deal, although they can be bought anywhere in the world.

There have been Premium Bond millionaires in all regions of the UK - except the tiny county of Rutland, with a population of just 40,000.
