Premier Sports win Northern Ireland broadcast rights for Nations League and Euro qualifiers

Premier Sports will show Northern Ireland's upcoming Nations League fixtures and Euro 2024 qualifiers after securing broadcasting rights from 2022-24.

The subscription service will kick-off its coverage of Northern Ireland next month when Ian Baraclough's side take on Greece on June 2.

The deal - awarded by UEFA - will also see the channel cover all Scotland and Republic of Ireland matches in the two competitions as well as hundreds of other games.

The IFA said on its website: "Over the next three years Premier Sports will become the home of UEFA national team football with over 400 games set to be broadcast over international weeks throughout 2022, 2023 and 2024.

"The deal with UEFA includes live rights to all other matches involving non-UK teams included in UEFA’s 2022-2024 national team football portfolio, including the UNL games in early June between Spain and Portugal plus Italy and Germany.

"Highlights and certain live matches featuring Northern Ireland and Scotland will also be available via free-to-air."

Richard Sweeney, CEO of Premier Sports, added: “We are thrilled to be awarded this fantastic package of UEFA national team matches.

“This summer, when the domestic seasons end, our subscribers will enjoy a feast of international football with live coverage of the UEFA Nations League, where every game matters as it provides a potential route to qualification for UEFA Euro 2024.

"From 2023 we will bring fans every game of their respective teams’ vital qualification process towards UEFA Euro 2024.”

The UEFA Nations League 2022-23 games and Euro 2024 qualifiers have been added to a line-up on Premier Sports that already includes matches from the Scottish Cup, Premier Sports Cup, La Liga, Coppa Italia, Copa del Rey, German Cup and the MLS as well as every game from the United Rugby Championship.

Live games on Premier Sports will be broadcast across digital and mobile platforms. Premier Sports is available in the UK via Sky, Virgin TV, Amazon Prime and the Premier Player.

A subscription package including the two main Premier Sports channels starts at £9.99 a month.

The deal follows last month's announcement that Nordic streaming service Viaplay have secured exclusive rights to broadcast all Northern Ireland men's matches from 2024-28.

They have agreed a four-year partnership with UEFA to show at least 40 exclusive live matches featuring the Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales national football teams.

The deal - which will see national team fixtures move away from long-running broadcast partner Sky Sports - will take in World Cup and European qualifiers as well as the UEFA Nations League and international friendlies.

The new service will be part of a comprehensive package of more than 800 exclusive international matches from across Europe.

The agreement covers all matches played by the three national teams in the World Cup 2026 and Euro 2028 qualifiers, and in the UEFA Nations League 2024-25 and 2026-27 plus all matches in the UEFA Nations League Finals 2025 and 2027 as well as international friendlies.
