When international football players are signed to a Premier League team, they also need to find a rental lease to sign. Some of them settle on super prime rentals on north London’s Billionaire’s Avenue, but for others bougie homes in west London are preferred.
This five-bedroom house in Fulham has proved popular with footballers — and is back on the market for £16,000 a month. Set back from the road and with a recent ultra modern refurbishment, the property has previously been rented out for years to Arsenal and Chelsea stars.
“It has appealed to a number of footballers including Jorginho and Ramires due to its easy access to central London,” said Igor Simonov, partner and head of lettings at Carter Jonas Fulham office. “Footballers love spending time in Mayfair and Knightsbridge.”
Brazilian midfielder Jorginho originally signed with Chelsea in 2018, before moving to Arsenal last year. Fellow Brazilian Ramires played for Chelsea between 2010 and 2016, before signing with Chinese team Jiangsu Suning for a reported £25 million — although he’s expressed he’s keen to return to the Stamford Bridge stadium.
Jorginho is regularly spotted in expensive Mayfair restaurants such as Babbo and Amazónico. The players could presumably have enjoyed the bight lights and high end establishments of central before retreating back to leafy Fulham. Chelsea’s stadium is right down the road, making it an easy commute for training.
The detached house is gated and has a CCTV system for security, making it a safe and private option for famous sportspeople.
At £192,000 a year plus bills you would need something approximate to a footballer’s salary, but behind its redbrick double front the house has a wealth of modern amenities set over 4,062 square feet.
Underfloor heating, a basement media room, and a high gloss kitchen in — what else — grey have all been recently fitted in an extension and refurbishment that, per Carter Jonas, “spared no expense”. Bi-fold doors open out from the back of the house to steps leading down to a manicured lawn and outdoor dining area.
Fulham of course has its own football team, and counts Hugh Grant and Margot Robbie amongst its famous fans. Sugarbabe Heidi Range was also a Fulham local until recently, when she put her house (complete with a supercar in the living room) on the market for £5.3 million.
