Premier League transfer news: Newcastle line up double swoop for PL strikers, Man City 'offered' Neymar

The summer transfer window continues at great pace as we edge towards the start of the Premier League season on August 6. Here are the latest transfer rumours:

Newcastle 'line up transfers for Ivan Toney and Dominic Calvert-Lewin'

The Magpies have spent £57million so far on Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman, but Eddie Howe had failed to land the striker he wants.

The Bootroom carry comments from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano to Caught Offside, claiming Newcastle have made an approach to Brentford for Ivan Toney.

Romano claims the Toon have made contact with Brentford about Toney, but have not yet made any bid. He claims the Bees are loathe to lose Toney and would want £45million for their talismanic striker.

Newcastle are anxious to sign another frontman after missing out on long-term target Hugo Ekitike to Paris St Germain.

Meanwhile The Footballfancast website claim Newcastle have made an approach to Everton for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Journalist Ben Jacobs claims Newcastle are targeting Calvert-Lewin as they attempt to sign the top striker Eddie Howe wants. Everton are desperate to hang on to Calvert-Lewin, having lost to Richarlison to Tottenham, and value the England striker at £60million in an attemp to ward off unwanted interest.

Man City offered the chance to sign Neymar

The Football Transfer Tavern carry claims by Le Parisien that Manchester City have been offered the chance to sign Neymar.

The report claims Paris St Germain are ready to offload Neymar, five years after they smashed the world transfer record to sign him from Barcelona for £200million. Neymar has turned 30 and made just 22 appearances last season because of an ankle problem.

It is reported that City have not taken up the offer and Pep Guardiola is said to be happy with his current strikeforce.

However, one man Guardiola is seemingly keen on is Marc Cucurella.

HITC carry claims by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano that Manchester City are now focused on landing the left-back from Brighton.

City are clearing the way for Cucurella's arrival at the Etihad by offloading Oleksandr Zinchenko to Arsenal and Pep Guardiola feels the Spaniard will be an upgrade for them.

Romano claims the only sticking point is the fee and Brighton reportedly want as much as £55million for Cucurella.

Jesse Lingard 'close' to Nottingham Forest transfer amid huge offer and latest U-turn

Jesse Lingard is in advanced talks with Nottingham Forest as the Premier League new boys look to beat West Ham in the race for the midfielder.

Lingard left his boyhood club Manchester United in the summer and is free to pick his next destination - which many believed would be the Hammers. The England international enjoyed a renaissance whilst on loan at the London Stadium the season before last.

His impact left a lasting impression on those at West Ham, but his performances were not enough to warrant him more game time in Manchester. But now it's Forest in pole position to secure his signature as discussions continue.

The Guardian reports that West Ham now believe they will miss out on a permanent swoop for Lingard. Lingard is looking for a pay packet of around £180,000-a-week and Forest are reportedly throwing big money at the 29-year-old to take him to the City Ground.

West Ham have taken their time over negotiations having prioritised a number of other targets, and that could now cost them with the player seemingly making a U-turn over moves to both the London Stadium and the United States in favour of Forest.

Forest have already underlined their ambitions following their play-off victory several months ago. Manchester United's Dean Henderson has joined on loan. The goalkeeper, who has been capped by England, was tipped to challenge David de Gea at Old Trafford, but that never happened and he's looking for regular minutes to get his career back on track.
