The Toon Army tops the table when it comes to finding the Premier League ’s biggest fans.
When the chant goes up on football terraces all over the land: “Who ate all the pies?” we now have a likely answer.
A survey has discovered the fans with the fullest figures support Newcastle Utd.
Regulars at St James’ Park have, on average, waistlines of 38.5in. At the opposite end of the table from the beer and pie-loving Geordies are Brighton and Hove Albion’s svelte fans.
Their 30-inch waists making them the Premiership’s slimmest. Rivalling Newcastle are fans of Leicester City, 38in, Wolves, 37.5, and Aston Villa and Leeds both on 37.

Betting site freebets.com asked 2,000 male Premier League fans what their waists measured to come up with findings.
Spokesman Tim Agnew said: “We know that football fans come in all shapes and sizes and our research really backs that up. It is pretty clear who ate all the pies – it is Newcastle fans.”
He added: “But what really surprised us is just how slim the south coast supporters are with Bournemouth and especially Brighton fans being super slimline.”
