There has been a concern amongst Chelsea supporters in recent years that the consistent chopping of head coaches has led to a bloated and confused squad. Particularly in reference to the different styles multiple coaches have tried to implement at Stamford Bridge in a short space of time.
Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, Maurizio Sarri, Frank Lampard and Thomas Tuchel at times contradicted each other in terms of their tactical approaches and the way they wanted to use Chelsea's squad.
The imminent transition from Tuchel to Graham Potter may prove a little smoother. The 47-year-old former Brighton boss has become synonymous with his progressive approach, helping to successfully transition Brighton from a pretty defensive side to one of the league's most enjoyable to watch.

A tactics and analytics piece by The Athletic broke down what Potter could bring to Stamford Bridge after signing a five-year deal last week. It also published a graph that best showcased the similarities between Potter's Brighton and Tuchel's Chelsea in their approach to possession.
As you can see from the graph, Brighton's passes per sequence are only slightly lower than Chelsea's, focusing on less direct play and high possession, with the Blues only behind Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.
This approach from Potter should ease the transition and learning curve for Chelsea's squad, most of whom are very used to or were recruited with a high-possession approach in mind. Compared to previous changes in the dugout, this should give Potter a strong chance to implement his ideas faster in what is a pressurised situation.
