Premier League star hides his identity as he graces front cover of Vogue

A Premier League star has swapped the back pages for the front after appearing on the cover of popular fashion magazine Vogue.

In the image, the player's face is partially covered with a bucket hat. That left fans on social media wondering who it could be, yet the mystery was soon solved by the 30-year-old winger uploading the photoshoot to his Instagram account.

Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech has appeared on the front of Vogue's Netherlands edition. Ziyech, who plays for Morocco but was born in the Netherlands, has opened up on his successful 2022 World Cup campaign and his four-year spell with Eredivisie champions Ajax.

Ziyech was unfortunate not to be named in the World Cup's Team of the Tournament after helping Morocco become the first African country in history to reach the semi-finals of the competition. The history makers eventually lost 2-0 to France in Qatar.

"We were in the last four," Ziyech told Vogue, as quoted by Morocco Latest News. "We were so close and we just didn't make it to the final. I wouldn't say sadness, but the disappointment was great. For the outside world, everyone was very happy.

"But when you're on the pitch, it's all about one thing: winning. And we didn't."

Do you think Hakim Ziyech will leave Chelsea this summer? Let us know in the comments below!

Although Ziyech is flourishing at international level, his club career has stalled. The former Heerenveen and Twente star joined Chelsea from Ajax in the summer of 2020 and has since won the Champions League, Club World Cup and European Super Cup.

Yet Ziyech has failed to live up to his billing at Stamford Bridge, scoring just six Premier League goals to date. This season has undoubtedly been his toughest in England, with the 52-cap international failing to score in any club competition.

Ziyech was set to join Paris Saint-Germain on loan in January, but the move collapsed at the last minute. That has left him battling the likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, Christian Pulisic and Noni Madueke for a place in Frank Lampard's starting XI.

To make matters worse, Chelsea are enduring a tough campaign. They are 11th in the Premier League table and have crashed out of all cup competitions. They have also had four different managers in Thomas Tuchel, Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor and now Lampard.

The latter was re-appointed as manager until the end of the season, but that decision has backfired. Lampard, who was relieved of his duties by Everton in January, has lost all four of his games in charge and could face the sack again if results don't improve.

Chelsea were supposed to play Manchester United at Old Trafford this weekend, but that game will be rearranged due to United's involvement in the FA Cup. The Blues are not back in Premier League action until Brentford travel to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
