Premier League slammed for technology problems as Leeds United vs Arsenal game suffers big delay

A power cut delaying a Premier League fixture doesn't happen too often. But that's what happened at Elland Road between Leeds United and Arsenal.

The game was halted just a minute after it got underway due to a power cut at the ground. That meant that VAR and goal line technology weren't working, while the officials couldn't communicate with each other via their ear pieces.

Many supporters wanted to see the game continue, but the issue highlighted how reliant the modern game is on technology. Before it was confirmed that the whole stadium was affected by the power cut and it appeared to be a technological issue, Clinton Morrison slammed the halting of the match.

The former Crystal Palace striker claimed that the delay to the game was simply 'not enough'. The match was delayed by nearly 40 minutes, with the issue eventually resolved and the game getting back underway at 2:40pm. During the break in play, the players had gone back into the dressing rooms and come back out for a short warm up.

"Arteta is still out there, Jesse Marsch is sitting down," Morrison told Sky Sports News.

"All I've got to say is this isn't good enough. You have to test this, your ear piece and that, before the game starts.

"I understand that there's a fault, I totally get that. But the game still hasn't kicked-off yet, it's not good enough."
