Dion Dublin has heaped praise on Merseyside as he revealed why he moved to the area.
The former striker is renowned as a Premier League legend as he picked up the Golden Boot at Coventry City in 1998. He also enjoyed spells at Aston Villa and Celtic during his glittering career.
Dublin was linked to Everton FC several times throughout his career, but he has finally made the move to Merseyside as he now lives on the Wirral. The former England international's wife, Cheryl, hails from Wirral and they recently relocated to the area to be nearer her family.

The 53-year-old said he loves living in the area and said the people make Merseyside so special. He told the ECHO: "We uprooted here just over a year ago. It's a lovely place, the people are great, normal and courteous. Nobody wants anything from you.
"There's obviously the odd picture or autograph, but that's just par for the course and nobody is ever rude. I've got a lot of time for it here and the city is brilliant. I've got no qualms with the place and I absolutely love it."
Dublin played for Manchester United for two years and he joked things can get awkward with Cheryl's Liverpool FC supporting family when the two North West giants face off against each other. He joked: "They're all Reds so we watch Liverpool vs Man United in separate rooms."
The former footballer is also a fan of the Merseyside food scene as he revealed his favourite spot in the region. He said: "A place I go to a lot is the Seafood Shack. It's an outstanding place. The fish is insane there. "
Dublin spoke to the ECHO to encourage new homeowners to be gas safe. He has joined forces with the Gas Safe Register for the campaign. Research from the UK’s official registration body for gas engineers and gas businesses found one in three homes in Liverpool have potentially dangerous gas appliances.
Dublin urged people to get appliances checked to avoid potentially severe consequences. He said: "There's been a couple of unfortunate explosions recently and I thought it was an apt campaign that people had to sit up and listen to. A lot can go wrong and it's an easy way to get it sorted.
"It's about keeping you safe, the people around you safe, the community safe. That's all it is. It's an important one this because it could save lives."
