Premier League's 44 players with highest transfer values - with Erling Haaland not top

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is not the most valuable player in the Premier League, according to new research.

Haaland, 22, is the top scorer in the top flight this season after plundering 21 goals in just 16 games since his summer transfer from Borussia Dortmund. The Norway international has taken the division by storm - but is only the second most valuable player.

It's believed the most valuable star in the Premier League is Haaland's City team-mate Phil Foden, who is worth a whopping €200.5million (£176.7m). In comparison, Haaland is valued at €174.9m (£154.6m) and Rodri, 26, is third on the list at €117m (£103.4m).

These figures come courtesy of the CIES Football Observatory, which has worked out the most valuable players in European football. Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, 19, is right at the top of the list, as he's worth a staggering €208.2m (£184m).

Although Foden, 22, is second on the global list, he tops the Premier League's charts. The list includes 44 Premier League players, with only four of those - Alisson, 30, Mohamed Salah, 30, Kevin De Bruyne, 31, and Casemiro, 30 - not in their twenties.

The good news for Three Lions fans is three of the Premier League's top 10 are English. Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka, 21, is fifth on the list at €108.7m (£96.1m) and Chelsea defender Reece James, 23, is eighth at €99.3m (£87.8m).

Furthermore, five of the top 10 are on Man City's books. Joining Haaland, Foden and Rodri are Ruben Dias, 25, in sixth at €105m (£92.8m) and Joao Cancelo, 28, in seventh at €103.6m (£91.6m).

The other players in the top 10 are Liverpool star Luis Diaz in fourth at €109.7m (£96.9m), Arsenal's Gabriel Jesus in ninth at €97.4m (£86.1m) and Manchester United ace Bruno Fernandes in 10th at €93.6m (£82.7m). There are no Tottenham players in the top 10.

One of the more interesting valuations is that of Jack Grealish, who is said to be worth just €52m (£46m). City signed the England international, 27, from Aston Villa for £100m just 19 months ago. That remains a British-record transfer fee.

William Saliba also has an intriguing valuation. Many critics thought Arsenal had paid over the odds for the Frenchman, 21, following his £27m move from Saint-Etienne in July 2019, as he failed to make an appearance during his first three seasons at the Emirates. Yet Saliba is flourishing in the Premier League and is valued at €80.3m (£71m).

Jadon Sancho, meanwhile, remains an asset for United, despite his struggles at Old Trafford. The former Dortmund winger, 22, joined the Red Devils in a £73m deal in July 2021 and has scored just five Premier League goals, but he's still worth €78.8m (£69.6m).

Declan Rice's valuation also speaks volumes. It's believed West Ham want more than £100m for the 24-year-old in the summer, but he's only thought to be worth €73.4m (£64.9m). Another interesting valuation is that of Cody Gakpo, who is priced at €63.6m (£56.2m). Liverpool have just signed the 23-year-old from PSV Eindhoven in a £45m deal.
