Arsenal are ‘destined’ to sign Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer if recent reports from Italy are to be believed.
The Gunners are in the market for a central midfielder, football.london understands. Despite extending Mohamed Elneny's contract, the north Londoners are light in the centre of the park, with Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey missing a combined 23 games through injury last season. Leicester City playmaker Youri Tielemans has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium but it is Mali international Bissouma that is reportedly 'destined' to join Mikel Arteta's side in the coming months.
That is according to Italian outlet Calciomercato, who claim that Arsenal are ahead of Serie A side AS Roma in the race to sign the tough-tackling maestro. Bissouma excited some Gunners supporters over the weekend when he shared a message on his Instagram story about potentially being a target for Arteta and Co.

The caption read: "For me I think he [Bissouma] and [Youri] Tielemans should be our [Arsenal] priority in midfield. We must get Bissouma at all cost.”
And the 25-year-old would be the perfect midfield partner for the aforementioned Partey, according to former Arsenal frontman Kevin Campbell. "Central midfield, I think they are very good," said Campbell when discussing Brighton back in December 2021.
"Especially Bissouma. I really like him and there is talk of clubs coming in for him and Arsenal are one of them.
"Arsenal could do with a player like him. Tomas Party needs a partner in the midfield with energy and he would fit the bill perfectly."
