Premier League confirm referees for final matchday as Liverpool and Man City decisions made

The referees for matchday 38 have been confirmed as Anthony Taylor is set to take charge of Liverpool's final game of the Premier League campaign.

Jurgen Klopp 's side will need to beat Wolves at Anfield this Sunday while simultaneously hoping Aston Villa, managed by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, are able to take points off Manchester City at the Etihad. Just a single point separates the second-placed Reds and leaders City in the table.

And it has been confirmed that Taylor will be the man in the middle at Anfield this weekend, with Stuart Attwell on VAR.

Taylor has taken charge of some of Liverpool 's biggest league games this season, including both draws with Chelsea. He also officiated the 5-0 win at Manchester United and the 2-2 draw against Man City at the Etihad.

Michael Oliver will referee City against Villa, with Darren England on VAR duty. Oliver was in charge of both Manchester derbys this season, as well as City's wins over Chelsea and West Ham United.

Oliver and Taylor are the only two English referees that have been selected to officiate at this year's World Cup in Qatar.

Liverpool remain in the hunt for an unprecedented quadruple, having already secured both the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup. After Sunday, they have a Champions League final to look forward to against Real Madrid on May 28.
