Premier League club 'plot' transfer for Chelsea youngster as Tuchel Tuchel faces tough decision

Chelsea loanee Levi Colwill has been linked with a move to Premier League rivals Leicester City, according to reports.

The 19-year-old centre-back has impressed at Huddersfield Town in the Championship, making 20 appearances in the league so far with two goals and one assist from the back too.

The England youth international has become an important player for Carlos Corberan, helping the Terriers transform from potential relegation candidates, to playoff contenders in the second division.

The youngster has impressed so much that his current manager believes he could be an important player in defence for his country in the future.

Corberan was full of praise for Colwill back in October and said: “I think he’s going to be one of the most important centre-backs for this country in the future.

“I am seeing a player with a lot of potential and a lot of personality.”

Thomas Tuchel will certainly be hoping that is the case, with the potential of losing three Chelsea defenders of his own in the summer.

Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are all out-of-contract at the end of the season, meaning that all three could be set to leave the club.

This would leave a gap in the Chelsea backline, meaning a summer of signings could be necessary, unless a youngster like Colwill can make their mark.

However, the defender’s start to life in senior football hasn’t gone unnoticed, as The Mirror reports that Leicester City are interested in a potential move.

The Foxes have struggled defensively this season, especially in the absence of their own young defender in the form of Wesley Fofana.

The report claims that manager Brendan Rodgers is keen on bolstering his backline in the summer, with scouts watching Colwill.

However, Tuchel is said to be willing to give the youngster a chance to impress in pre-season.

It could give him a chance to make his way into the first-team, with Chelsea’s academy already producing a number of top talents.

The likes of Mason Mount, Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Trevoh Chalobah are recent examples. Could Colwill be the next?
