Premier League announce drinks break for fixtures including Manchester United and Man City's

The Premier League has announced that it will be reintroducing drinks breaks this weekend for all matches, including Manchester United and Manchester City's fixtures.

Temperatures across England are set to soar this weekend as the country is hit by yet another heatwave. An amber weather warning has been enforced by the Met Office for Brentford where United will kick off in temperatures close to 34C on Saturday evening.

Earlier in the day, City host AFC Bournemouth at the Etihad Stadium in a 3pm kick off. The amber warning will extend to Manchester, but temperatures shall be marginally cooler at around 29C.

Drinks breaks are normally called when temperatures reach 30C at pitch level and take place halfway through each half at a suitable moment, such as when the ball is out of play. Due to the heat at the London Stadium on Sunday, City players were given a drinks break midway through each 45-minute period.

All Premier League and EFL fixtures will have drinks breaks as the heatwave continues in the UK. Some areas in England will reach 37C this weekend for the second round of matches in the top flight.
