Premier Inn to open three hotels in Wales by summer and names where it wants next sites

Premier Inn will open three new sites in Wales by the summer - and has named a trio of target areas for the next expansion.

Work is well underway on developments in Llandudno, St David's and Porthmadog.

In the Conwy resort town of Llandudno the hotel is being built on the site of the former Tudno Castle which was demolished due to its poor condition to make way for the new 90 room development.

The current opening date on the Premier Inn website is July 1 but there is a hope it will open its doors before then.

Triton Construction secured the contract to deliver the new 80-bed Premier Inn hotel in Porthmadog and its current opening date is quoted as June 14.

Premier Inn this week said "early summer" is the target for both.

They are also opening another Welsh hotel at St David's, Pembrokeshire, in March.

Meanwhile they have named three places in Wales they are targeting for the next expansion.

In North Wales they want a hotel in Snowdonia as demand continues to surge for staycations in and around the national park.

The brand is also interested in Carmarthen and the Mumbles.

A spokesperson for Premier Inn said: "We have a hugely exciting year of new Premier Inn openings across Wales this year.

“In North Wales our teams and development partners are working hard to finish two new Premier Inn hotels in Llandudno and Porthmadog.

“We are working to open both hotels in early summer, and are very excited to be adding two fantastic locations to our network which we know will be very popular with our customers looking for leisure and adventure breaks.

“To the west of Wales, we are also readying to open at St David's. The 63-bedroom Premier Inn will be smallest opening of the year but a significant one given its location in the heart of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.

“Together the three hotels will add more than 230 Premier Inn and Premier Plus rooms to our network across Wales, and we want to keep growing with further requirements for Premier Inn in Carmarthen, Snowdonia, the Mumbles and many other popular locations across the country.”
