A tragic incident unfolded in Georgia as a pregnant 16-year-old female, Mia Campos, was discovered dead in a wooded area in Loganville. The Gwinnett Police Department revealed that Campos' body was found face down off a roadway in the early hours of Monday.
Campos' family reported her missing after she left home with an unknown person the previous night. Using a cellphone app, they located her body in the woods. The medical examiner later confirmed her death as a homicide after conducting an autopsy.
The teenager, who was seven months pregnant with a boy she named Sebastian, had her ex-boyfriend, 20-year-old Jesus Monroy, arrested for providing false statements to the police. Monroy has not been named as a suspect in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
Campos' family and friends set up a memorial at the site where her body was found. Her parents expressed shock over Monroy's arrest, stating they had been together in the days leading up to it. They continue to seek answers about their daughter's death.
Edward Campos, Mia's father, described the heartbreaking moment of finding her lifeless body and expressed the pain of the loss. The family remains hopeful for justice as detectives pursue all leads in the case.
