Heavily pregnant Rihanna was forced to forgo fashion's biggest night at The Met Gala but a life-size marble statue of the singer made sure she was still a sensation at the star-studded event.
The 33-year-old pop singer is preparing for motherhood with her first child rapper-boyfriend A$AP Rocky, but The Metropolitan Museum of Art paid a special tribute to Rihanna.
The Diamonds songstress announced the art work on Twitter and thanked the museum and Vogue magazine for paying her a historic tribute.
She posted a glimpse of her nude statue which features floral pattern from chest to toe and her blossoming baby bump being the highlight.
“Shut down the met in marble! what’s more gilded than that? Lol! Thank you for this historic tribute! y’all bad for this one,” she wrote.
The statue is of course straight off the cover photoshoot she did for Vogue magazine. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, is yet to post anything official regarding the apparent collab.
Fans of the hit maker were loving her statue and joked about her still making her mark despite missing out on the event.
One fan wrote: "Wasn’t even in attendance & still made an impact! This is so cool.”
Another commented:"Making HistoRIH."
A third wrote: “That’s one way to do it ‼️”
A fourth commented: “Wowowowowowow what a Goddess!!!!!!!!!!"
And those back home were treated to a tour of the famous gallery with a walk around in a video clip, the camera pans around the museum to unveil various busts before showcasing a marble figure of Rihanna posing with her baby bump.
Rihanna has in the past used the Met Gala red carpet to show off her fashion-forward looks and her show stopping outfits will have been missed by many this year.
But she hasn't cancelled all occasions and even hosted a rave-themed baby shower last week. It was an intimate affair which was held at a studio in Los Angeles.
Rihanna is nearing the end of her pregnancy with her baby due this spring. The couple announced they were expecting their first child together in February, after officially announcing their relationship at the beginning of 2021.
