Pregnant Chloe Madeley kisses husband James as she brushes off his 'sea cow' joke

Chloe Madeley thanked her husband James Haskell for making her 'laugh every day' as she took to Instagram to celebrate his 36th birthday on Saturday.

James came under fire earlier this week after he joked the personal trainer, 34, who is pregnant with their first child, looked like a 'huge sea cow' while sharing an underwater snap during their Maldives break.

But seeing the funny side, Chloe uploaded a photo of herself kissing James in a blue bikini by the water to celebrate his birthday.

Chloe displayed her blossoming baby bump in the patterned two-piece as she shared a kiss with James, who sported a pair of navy board shorts.

She wrote: "Happy birthday @jameshaskell. Thank you for making me laugh every day."

"For always taking me on all of your weird, random (sometimes truly wonderful) adventures. For always trying to be better at everything you do, including husbanding."

"You're committed and tenacious, intelligent and funny and I can't wait to watch you hold our baby girl. I love you."

The post by Chloe - the daughter of Richard Madeley, 65, and Judy Finnigan, 73 - comes days after James attracted attention by joking his pregnant wife looked like a "sea cow."

James made the comment alongside a photo of his wife, taken underwater, during a recent snorkelling trip - in which her baby bump was on full display.

He had written: "B****y hell. You go snorkelling and the first thing you see is a huge sea cow doing a mating display [laughing emojis]. She appears to think I'm her partner."

It concluded: "I didn't know whether to harpoon it or feed it." The post attracted national attention, with James later sharing examples of the subsequent headlines.

He joked the comments are "the best bit about it all," with his follow-up post featuring examples in which he was referred to as "childish" among other things.

Chloe responded to the situation in the comments section of her husband's follow-up post recently, writing: "Slightly more important things to worry about in pregnancy [to be honest]."

The couple announced in February they are expecting their first child, a baby girl, later this year.

Chloe said she first realised she wanted to start a family with James when the former rugby player was in the Australian jungle, taking part in the 2019 series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

However, their path to parenthood wasn't straightforward as the pair struggled to conceive a child for over two years.

Chloe opened up about her difficult journey to motherhood during a recent interview with OK! Magazine where she showcased her blossoming bump.

During the honest chat, Chloe spoke about her fertility struggles, and said it was 'really complicated'.

Chloe revealed that she knows how lucky she is to haven fallen pregnant with the extra support.

But she admitted that it was a 'really sad few months' where she was 'scared' becoming a mother was out of reach for her.

Chloe discovered that she was pregnant with her first child two days after her dad, Richard, left his stint on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here.
