Pregnant BBC Breakfast host 'gutted' after man storms set

BBC Breakfast host Nina Warhurst has issued an update after being heckled by a "protestor" live on air on Tuesday.

Nina, who is pregnant with her third child, was reporting live from an ice cream van as she discussed food inflation. The presenter told viewers food prices had risen by 17.3% up to March of this year.

But before Nina, 42, could continue a man appeared on the screen before beginning to shout at her. The BBC host took a few seconds to collect her thoughts before sensibly moving away to another part of the outdoor set.

Hosts Sally Nugent and John Kay, who were back in the studio, moved quickly to reassure those watching at home that Nina was "completely fine" and "not alone".

John said: "There is clearly a lot of demand for ice cream this morning", while Sally added: "Do you know what? Don't mess with our Nina".

Breakfast fans were quick to offer Nina support online, with many commending her for how she handled the interaction. And on Tuesday evening, the presenter took to Twitter to issue an update.

Nina said: "Thanks for the messages you lovely lot [heart emoji]. I am fine. Just gutted I didn’t have time for an ice cream."
