A heavily pregnant teacher found dead in a flat has been named locally while police continue to hunt for a missing person.
The body of 35-year-old Marelle Sturrock, was found at the property in the Craigton area of Glasgow, Scotland, yesterday morning.
Police rushed to the scene on Jura Street around 8.40am after receiving a concern for person call.
An investigation has been launched with Police Scotland confirming the death is being treated as suspicious.
It comes as investigators say the death is linked to an ongoing search for a missing person at Mugdock Country Park - nine miles from where Ms Sturrock was found.
Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Kelly confirmed the incidents are linked.
Ms Sturrock worked at Sandwood Primary School in Glasgow, and on Wednesday parents were told of the death.
Headteacher Fiona Donnelly said in a letter: "It is with deep sorrow that I must inform you about the sudden death of Ms Sturrock who is a beloved member of our teaching staff.
"I know that this will come as a shock to our school community, and we will do all that we can to support children, staff and families through what will be a difficult and challenging time.
"We have had support in school today from our educational psychologists who will be here over the next few days to offer help and advice.
"I hope that you will understand that there are no other details that I can share at this time but wanted to let our families know the tragic news from the school."
Ms Sturrock was from the Scottish Highlands, but moved to Glasgow when she was 17 to pursue a career in the performing arts.
She later became a primary school teacher after completing her post graduate diploma in education.
Friend Alec Nicholson, who took part in several musical theatre productions with Ms Sturrock, said she was an "exceptionally beautiful human".
He told the Mirror: "She really was incredibly special. So beautiful, so talented, but so kind.
"She was very well known and loved in the Musical Theatre community. Her lead roles in “Thoroughly Modern Millie” and “Fame!” are how I always think of her.
"Outside of theatre she also sang with the jazz group Charlie and the Bachelors.
"It’s very shocking and we’re all struggling to comprehend how it’s possible.
"She really was the very last person anyone could ever want to come to harm. Just a lovely, lovely girl."
A large-scale search operation is underway at the site, near Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire, with cops treating it as linked to the death.
Officers were seen swarming the woodland at around 11am yesterday, with a helicopter and dog units also in attendance.
Images from the scene show a large section close to an entrance of the park taped off as the search operation continues. Officers remain in attendance at both sites today.
Detective Chief Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: “Our thoughts are with Marelle’s family and friends, as well as everyone affected by this tragic incident.
“We are providing her family with support at this incredibly difficult time as our investigation to establish the full circumstances continues.”
“A visible police presence will remain at both locations as our work continues," DCI Kelly said.
“There is not believed to be any risk to the wider public but I would urge anyone with information or concerns to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 0904 of 25 April or speak to any of our officers.”
