Prediction and betting odds for MSU vs. Purdue in Week 13

For only the second time this year, Michigan State is listed as a favorite over an FBS opponent.

Michigan State football returns home on Friday night in a nationally televised matchup against Purdue. The Spartans enter this game as a sizable favorite, which is the first time they’ve been listed as a favorite since the season-opener against Florida Atlantic. There wasn’t an official line posted for the Spartans’ third game of the season against FCS foe Prairie View A&M, and Michigan State has otherwise been an underdog this year.

Michigan State comes into this game looking to snap a three-game losing streak and keep its bowl hopes alive. The Spartans are 4-6 overall and 2-5 in Big Ten play this year.

It has been a rough year for Purdue, who comes into this matchup with a 1-9 record and 0-7 mark in league play. The Boilermakers haven’t won since their season-opening victory over FCS foe Indiana State.

Michigan State vs. Purdue game odds:

All College Football Odds via BetMGM:

  • Point spread: Michigan State -13.5
  • Money line: Michigan State-650 / Purdue +450
  • Over-under: 47.5

Michigan State vs. Purdue prediction, pick

The way Michigan State is playing makes it wild that they are a two-touchdown favorite over anyone. But that also shows how bad Purdue has been this year. While the Boilermakers have been brutal, I find it hard to pick Michigan State to win a game by two touchdowns right now. This one will surely be closer than it should be…

Prediction: Michigan State 23, Purdue 14
