Predicted Notts County starting XI as Luke Williams ponders tactical and team changes at Halifax

Notts County travel to Halifax Town this Saturday (3pm kick-off) looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the National League season.

A 2-2 draw with Chesterfield last weekend made it three consecutive stalemates for the Magpies in games described by head coach Luke Williams as frustrating.

And Notts will be hoping to rectify those missed opportunities against the Shayman, with last year's fourth-placed side rooted to the bottom of the league with a single point and no goals to their name so far this campaign.

Following on from their comeback against the Spireites, Williams has some important decisions to make in terms of team selection, with a number of his players making a case to start at The Shay.

Both Sam Austin and Cedwyn Scott impressed in their substitute cameos against Chesterfield, with many Notts fans wanting both to be included from the start at Halifax.

And while Williams explained last week that he was easing certain players back into the fold, he hinted that both players were close to starting in forthcoming games. And with a quick turnaround this weekend, that timing could be ideal to freshen things up.

The Notts boss also has a decision to contemplate in defence after Aden Baldwin limped off in the final 15 minutes of the Chesterfield game after a reoccurrence of an Achilles injury that forced him off against Boreham Wood the week before.

Baldwin was replaced by fellow summer recruit Geraldo Bajrami, who put in a solid performance on the left-side of the back three, and that could be the option Williams goes for this weekend.

He did explain in a pre-match press conference that Baldwin had trained for two days this week, providing a positive update on the 25-year-old, but insisted his minutes needed to be managed with Solihull Moors visiting Meadow Lane on Bank Holiday Monday.

Macaulay Langstaff will be looking to continue his rich vein of goal-scoring form, adding to his two goals against Maidenhead at the start of the season.

In terms of formation, Williams could revert back to a singular striker up front, but Notts looked extremely dangerous when Langstaff and Scott played as a pair going forward with Ruben Rodrigues tucked in behind them.

Here is what NottsLive predict the line-up will be this Saturday:

Notts County (3-4-1-2): Slocombe; Brindley, Cameron, Bajrami; Nemane, Palmer, Austin, Chicksen; Rodrigues; Langstaff, Scott
