The game, in less than two months' time, could see Jack Colback return to St James' Park as well as opposition duo Jamaal Lascelles and Karl Darlow face off against their former employers.
The Reds then welcome West Ham United to the City Ground the following weekend before heading north again, this time to Goodison Park, to play Frank Lampard's Everton.

The final weekend of August will see Tottenham Hotspur in town before Forest round off a momentous month with a trip to Premier League champions Manchester City.
It is a tough baptism for the Reds, but September's schedule eases somewhat with recent adversaries Bournemouth first up at the City Ground. A return to Leeds United comes the following weekend before Championship titleholders Fulham are in the East Midlands for Forest's eighth and final match before the first international break of the season.
