An abundance of heritage
In many ways, the five-star SL-1300G is the culmination of Technics’ 60 years of audio expertise. Its coreless direct-drive motor is a direct descendant of that found within the Technics SP-10, the world’s first direct drive turntable that took the world by storm back in 1970.
This modern iteration eliminates the jerky ‘cogging’ common to some direct drive turntables, and minimises micro-vibrations for an ultra-smooth rotation. At the same time, the Delta-Sigma drive system suppresses motor vibrations and enhances signal purity for high-precision playback.
It takes years to come up with these innovations. Thankfully, Technics has had six decades in which to perfect them.
The sound output is helped further by the three-layered turntable platter, which is die-cast of brass and aluminium with rubber damping to ensure superior stability and resonance control. And by the two-layered cabinet construction, a rigid and die-cast chassis with improved vibration damping ensuring interference is kept to an absolute minimum.

The factory-calibrated balance adjustment ensures optimal weight distribution, in the process eliminating excess vibration and noise. A multi-stage silent power supply reduces electrical noise for an ultra-clear signal path, while high-damping silicon insulators provide advanced isolation design for a purer sound.
And that aluminium, S-shaped tonearm? It features gimbal suspension to ensure high-accuracy groove tracing, minimising skipping for a truer sound.
