Tesco customers left queuing for ages after mannequin mystery at cashpoint

A prankster left a mannequin outside a cashpoint and watched as customers queued behind it for ages.

Daniel Green's video of the stunt - filmed outside a Tesco in Southport - has racked up 1.4million views on social media platform TikTok.

The clip shows Daniel explaining how he set up the prank as he sits in his car a short distance away.

He called the mannequin 'Derek' and filmed as two people waited patiently behind him at the ATM, reports Lancashire Live.

Daniel eventually jumps out of his car and joins the queue, before laughing as he carries Derek away.

The video's caption reads: "Derek the mannequin taking ages to get cash, watch till the end."

Daniel can be heard saying: "People are joining here. I set it up... I got my man at the cashpoint."

Derek was wearing all black, including a winter coat.

"We've got someone waiting already," the prankster continues.

"She's going to be waiting for him all day. Oh no, this has worked too quick."

Daniel and a woman in his car can then be heard struggling to hold back from laughing.

The video cuts to some time later and the same woman is still queuing along with another woman.

Daniel then joins the queue.

His friend, who is still filming from inside the car, begins laughing and says: "I can't believe she thinks it's real. I'm crying."

Daniel then walks over to Derek and taps him on the shoulder with the mannequin toppling backwards.

His head then falls off.

Daniel carries him back towards the car as two members of the public watch in disbelief.

Many of his followers found it hilarious.

One user commented: "such a brilliant simple idea and freakin hilarious."

Another said: "3 minutes ago I don’t think you could have convinced me that watching people wait in line would be entertaining, but here I am."

A third person wrote: "Now this is a real prank. no one gets hurt just straight up fun."

And a fourth said: "The shoulder tap. The head falling off. His name being Derek. The whole thing is perfect."
